The novel has grown in its popularity over the last hundred years. There are many different aspects to the story that make it interesting. The novel is introduced by a wise narrator, who describes and comments on the given situations throughout the novel. This si seen from the first sentence, "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." Jane Austen uses a variety of characters in the novel; the main protagonist, Elizabeth Bennet, the other Bennet sisters and Mr and Mrs Bennet, Mr. Bingley and his sisters and of course Mr. Darcy.
