For preaching to transform lives and not merely to transmit knowledge, preachers need the unction of the Holy Spirit. In Power in Preaching, Johnson Lim examines the idea that a sermon powered by logic and rhetoric and accompanied by erudition and eloquence can be inspiring and interesting; but only a sermon powered by the Spirit is life transforming. Lim also explores the authority of a preacher, axioms of preaching, hermeneutical protocols for reading biblical texts, and preaching in (post) modernity.
