It analyses various growth theories of spatial planning which have been propounded by various authors from time to time. There is a detailed study of the functioning of various poverty alleviation programmes in India and why they have not accomplished their objectives. An innovative attempt has been made to eliminate poverty by integrating grassroot planning and growth pole strategy.
