Emily has recently lost her mother to cancer. Polly, a special pot-bellied pig has also lost friends and special people in her life and is adjusting to her new home at Young's Pet Shop. With some unanticipated assistance from Mr. Young's daughter Ashley, both Emily and Polly discover they can rely on each other to get them through these difficult times. Polly finds a loving home and the opportunity to help Emily adjust to a new life without her mother. Emily learns about purpose and responsibility through her relationship with Polly. More adventures lie ahead for both.
