Poems Distilled from Walden is a collection of found poems . . . poems whose words are drawn directly from the words and thoughts of Henry David Thoreau. These poems were found hidden in Thoreau's Walden, waiting to be distilled and given shape. This book is much more than one man's personal response to a masterpiece. Insofar as poetry is revelation, this work is the result of confluence between a dead writer and a live poet. And insofar as poetry is essence, Alfred Cahen has tried to bottle only the purest Walden water, that which Thoreau's soul bathed in.
