"Pieces" is a collection of stories taken from the author's own life experiences, encounters with others, and observations that have made lasting impressions.These stories range from heartwarming to shocking, but all are written with an underlying compassion for the characters involved, many ending with a sentence that takes the reader's breath away. Others are written with a sardonic wit as the author takes us on a fun romp.This is the first book by Paula Conrad Mlekush. A shortened version of the story "Door Number Four" appeared in the anthology "Chocolate for a Woman's Courage." Paula became interested in writing at the University of North Carolina where she graduated summa cum laude and is a proud member of Phi Beta Kappa. An avid gardener and devoted grandmother to Ava, she lives in Greensboro, North Carolina with her husband and her precious Cavapoo, Gracie.
