This book analyses how parliaments across the world were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and how they reacted to it.

It uses a globally comparative data set to provide an extensive in-depth look behind the scenes of parliaments as the pandemic unfolded and to understand the Covid-related consequences for parliaments in their political systems. With this, the book examines the influence on the various parliamentary functions: legislation, oversight, election and communication, and reveals significant variation across political systems and their underlying causes. As such, the book derives insights for future crises readiness and for everyday parliamentary work.
