Organic Grammar is for learners of English. It is in line with the levels of B1 (intermediate) and B2 (upper intermediate) in the Common European Framework of Reference and is appropriate preparation for the Cambridge First Certificate.
Organic Grammar is also for speakers of English as their first language. It is appropriate for adults and for children studying at Key Stage 3 or above. Organic grammar is made up of three parts.
Part A explains the
sentence system in terms of the six component parts we can use within sentences, including the
subject, the
verbal and the
object.
Part B explains the
word system of
determiners,
nouns,
verbs,
adjectives etc. that we use to create sentences.
Part C explains the use of phrases and clauses within the
sentence system.
In addition, there are detailed appendices explaining word formation rules, spelling, punctuation and patterns of usage.
Organic Grammar's overriding aim is to make grammar and language use easier to understand, easier to remember and easier to put into use by providing a coherent and systematic description of English.
