Onondaga County Post Offices and the Postal Service describes the approximately 200 post offices, with pictures if available, that have existed in Onondaga County since the County was formed in 1794. It also lists the date each post office was formed, its first postmaster and the source of postal service for residents if and when the post office was closed. The book's Appendix lists the names of the hundreds of postmasters who served in their respective post offices and the dates of their service. The first five chapters tell of the development of postal communication and are followed with chapters describing the post offices in each of the 19 Onondaga County towns and one of the city of Syracuse.
