.A collection of 29 ghost stories and haunting tales. Ghost stories have been told for centuries, not just at Halloween time, but at Christmas, and around the camp fire, to liven up long nights, to entertain during long car trips, and to scare one another just for fun. Between these covers lie a variety of stories, some with dark spirits, some with classic ghosts, some with benign ghosts, or mischievous ghosts, and others with characters not quite ghosts and not quite human. Six of these tales do not have ghosts in them, but brush against the dark side- a sweet elderly woman with a disturbing collection in her pantry cupboard, a mysterious spiral staircase with an enigmatic being luring passersby with the promise of their heart's desire at the top of the stairs, a woman who draws her power in a peculiar and alarming manner, a sinister old car cruising a neighborhood on Halloween night, a nocturnal visit from a strange creature, and an unusual gentleman who comes to call.
