"One is Me-3" continues an almost mythical relationship between people and places of the past and present as seen through the eyes of many, as they speak of themselves throughout the entire book. What is remarkable is that throughout the book, the characters interrelate their stories with fresh dialog, as if they are talking to each other, about each other, with surprises around many corners. The chaotic flow of events that happened in One is Me and One is Me-2, from the terrors of life, sex scandals, death, crackpots, afternoon and evening delight, and deceit, all interspersed in moments in the characters lives. The uniqueness of the writing leads you to an understanding that all the characters may be individual characters alone by themselves or may be one character alone in a constant state of change. While mixed with sympathetic and idiosyncratic thoughts, the characters offer a 'shoot from the hip' frankness about life with many surprises. W. R. Mertens leaves that "final answer" up to the individual reader.
