Through an exploration of the conversation Jesus had with a teacher of the Law, which resulted in Jesus telling the parable of the Good Samaritan, Rev. Martyn Sanders demonstrates how scripture and daily life are inextricably connected.

He gets to the heart of what it means to love, helping readers to reassess the two great commandments: to love God and love one's neighbour. Readers are encouraged and assisted to reflect upon Jesus' teaching and how it impacts on their relationship with God, their values, attitudes, daily interactions with others, and how they relate and respond to global issues.

The book is designed to be used as a personal devotion and a stimulus for a study group. Each chapter concludes with questions for reflection and a prayer. The Bible quotes are largely taken from the New International Version.
