Collectively, the US Navy's Ohio-class submarines carry about half of America's strategic nuclear warheads. The 18 ships of the Ohio-class are split between two variants; There are 14 nuclear-warhead-carrying fleet ballistic missile submarines (SSBN) and 4 guided missile submarines (SSGN), the latter having been converted from SSBN to carry Tomahawk missiles and special operators into action.

This is the pictorial guide to the SSBNs and SSGNs of the Ohio-class. Detailed captions accompany color photography throughout, including numerous previously unpublished interior photos taken by the author, who was provided rare access to several operational SSBN.
