Imogene is in Italy, armed with the celebrated Dorothy L. Sayers translation of Dante's Divine Comedy to guide her through the golden streets of Tuscany's favourite city, Florence. As always, Imogene finds time, while researching her next book, to wander the romantic streets of the Medici's, tasting various flavours of gelato and drinking limoncello.

And though she might be a stranger whose Italian is very much read-only, familiar faces are not far away. Her friend Toni pops over from France for a conference, and she even coaxes Daniel, her "gentleman caller" from back home in Edmonton, over for a few days. But Florence's rich culture might be overshadowed by its dark past. Perhaps Imogene should have chosen to study a place less connected to murder. Especially now that she's connected to a series of macabre discoveries.
