Multilingual Competence 9-12 (MCT 9-12) is a new assessment method for evaluating and measuring multilingual skills in young learners aged 9-12. The method is suitable both as a testing tool and for practical use in the classroom. MCT 9-12 focuses on metalinguistic and cross-linguistic skills and determines whether and how e¿ciently pupils can use their multilingual and metacognitive resources in the context of language reflection and multilingual awareness in language acquisition. Part I of MLT 9-12 focuses on German, Italian and English, while Part II adds other languages, including Swedish, Dutch, Danish, Ladin, French and Spanish. This volume is aimed in particular at researchers and linguists in the fi eld of applied linguistics and multilingualism research, as well as primary school teachers.
