I don't dare deny it. I don't know what will happen if I do. Mero is the wielder of Sheathless, an enchanted sword that extends its owner's life by draining the lifeblood of others. But the immortality it bestows comes at a terrible price, for while Mero can never die, neither can he truly live. Doomed to an existence of loneliness and suffering, he wanders the war-scorched earth, haunted by a goddess whose voice only he can hear. Then the goddess sends Mero a vision, and he sets out on a journey to free himself from his curse, a journey that will take him to the edge of the world and beyond.
