In our contemporary world, few things are more important than addressing the needs that exist in the first institution - marriage. Whatever was created first must be taken care of and magnified first. Whatever happens in the first thing of a particular creation will have an effect on the preceding. So what happens in the institution of marriage can in some way affect what happens in other institutions of mankind. Marriage was created to be the first, lead and model institution for all other human institutions.According to our Creator's order of things, marriage needs to be magnified before children, in-laws, schools, the church, businesses, organizations, communities, states and nations. Why? Because what happens in a relationship of marriage will have an effect in all of the above. Because we, men first, have been ignorant of this reality and taken it lightly or down played it, societies nowadays have some of the highest divorce rates, domestic disturbances and children hurt from watching dad and mom separate.The marriage relationship is so important that God chose it as a picture of His relationship with His people. In the Old Testament, the bible reveals that God saw himself as the husband of Israel (Isaiah 54:5). In the New Testament, Christ is seen as the husband of the church (Ephesians 5:29-32). Even as God and Christ took the lead to nurture, protect and magnify their relationships, so must men in marriage. To those of you who are single and contemplating getting married, resolve in your heart to do what I just stated before saying I do. For those of you who are married reading this book, you know where you are in regards to the above statements. If you know you need to "up your game," start now!
