What started as one man's dream has become a remarkable example of the best in public education, inspiring student artists throughout the nation and revitalizing the arts and culture of the American community. Based on interviews with and stories written by the school's students, alumni, faculty, staff, and supporters, this book brings to life the never-before-told story of the Orange County High School of the Arts. The nationally-recognized Orange County High School of the Arts began 20 years ago with 125 students and a total operating budget of $190,000 and is now thriving with more than 1,300 students and a total operating budget of $12 million. Established in 1987 as an after-school arts program, the school is now located in the heart of the Orange County arts scene and is the place for aspiring young artists to excel in one of 11 arts conservatory programs.
