July 1945. Martin England arrives home from war-torn Europe. His flashbacks are increasing, threatening his fragile marriage and his ability to function normally. When he is involved in the death of a war comrade and charged with homicide, he seeks the help of his captain and closest ally, Reginald Jacobs, Q.C. Jacobs takes temporary leave from his law practice in Montreal to defend his friend and in the process of the trial, he realizes Martin is suffering from PTSD. He obtains the help of a friend, Dr. Michel LeBlanc, a specialist in hypnotherapy. Together, they determine they must confront Martin with the truth of what happened one day during the war in a Tuscany vineyard. Other powerful people however, will go to extreme lengths to prevent Jacobs from uncovering the facts, and a deadly plot is set in place to ensure the truth is kept buried.
