This is a biography of legendary British producer Joe Meek and is a very colourful story. Meek was the first record producer to treat the studio as an instrument; he produced 'Telstar'; was gay (and arrested for cottaging); had a criminal business partner who ended up in jail; exhibited Spector-like behaviour (threatening people with a gun); had mental health problems and suffered from paranoia (he was convinced people were trying to steal his secrets; thought he was going to be implicated in the 'body in a suitcase' murder); the session musicians he worked with are like a who's who of British sixties musicians; and he shot his landlady and then committed suicide, around which there are various conspiracy theories (including he was murdered by Ronnie Kray). The book will feature original interviews, plus extracts from Meek's own letters.
