Anyone familiar with Andrew Jackson's historic, if belated, victory at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815 and the other exploits of Louisianans during the War of 1812 will be interested in this edition of Pierson's "Louisiana Soldiers in the War of 1812," a complete roster of the 12,500 persons who took part in that great conflict. The soldiers are arranged in alphabetical order, and for each we are given his full name, rank, and company(ies) served in. Painstakingly compiled by Mr. Pierson from the card files of the office of the Adjutant General in Washington, D.C., this work is a comprehensive index to the compiled service records of the 1812 soldiers from Louisiana. Persons interested in seeing a copy of any of the actual service records referred to in this book may obtain that record from the National Archives for a fee. This work is reprinted with the kind permission of the Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Society, the original publisher of the book in 1963.
