Dan Cantano is a recently married New York, retired detective. His new wife Cassie works for Lions Gate Publishing in London. Dan starts a detective agency to keep his hand in the work he knows, but using his rules and not someone else's. His first case is a woman whose daughter has run away. Dan suspects he's not getting the whole truth from the woman, but he's anxious to start his first case and takes the case anyway. The daugher, Olesya, had not been heard from for two days. After Dan lifts a print from her bedroom, he discovers Olesya is definitely not his client's daughter, she's much more as it turns out; much more indeed. The simple runaway turns into an international case for the new detective with people trying to kidnap her and kill her, all at the same time. Other cases come his way as he tries to find Olesya.
