Listening Glossary explores the many meanings and practices of listening. Entries range from non-cochlear listening and machine listening to interspecies listening, tracing six decades of sonic thought and experimentation.

It gathers hundreds of terms for listening, contributed by people from diverse disciplines and constituencies, including academics, activists, artists, audiologists, D/deaf and hard of hearing people, educators, musicians, parents, psychologists, philosophers, scientists and social workers. Their entries take multiple forms, including personal narratives, diagrams, performance scores, theories and poems. The terms invite listening through another's ears or from specific perspectives, and together, offer a practical guide to listening as a relational practice.
