The only weapons that count are Dr. Fauci's hypodermic needles and good old-natured laughter. Nothing strengthens the immune system faster than a bout of laughter. The story tracks Kojo as he thrashes through life causing 'good trouble' to adults and entertaining his friends as he only could. Friday to Thursday is not equal to Thursday to Friday (when asked to explain why he was charging a higher 'coming' fare than the 'going' fare). Ananse stories have been in the folklore of countries in Africa and the Caribbean for generations, but Ananse the Zookeeper is appearing in print for the first time. Also, Ananse did not believe in COVID. That is until he was stricken with the dreaded disease. After which he paraphrased the Biblical injunction: 'The fool says in his heart, there is no COVID'.
