Keepi-ng Love of Wisdom Alive by R. Lloyd Mitchell is a book about the continuous efforts of dedicated people to keep philosophy alive - the love of wisdom - at Washington and Jefferson College, not only as an academic subject but also as the spirit of every subject in a liberal arts education. This book records these efforts, from the college's founding in the late 18th century to the present, as the college itself changed from a small all-male, church-related school to a modern, co-educational, independent liberal arts college with numerous outstanding pre-professional programs. Larger changes in American higher education are also noted in the Foreword.
