This book was written to aid men of color, in seeing themselves and the things around them in a new light. At the same time, it is the accumulation of 20- plus years of self-reflection. Thus, being able to apply spiritual, historical and (lest we forget) common-sense solutions to many of the problems I see facing African-American men and other male groups. I've tried to encompass every important lesson I've learned with every positive train of thought that didn't escape me. The work stresses the point that self-help is the only real help for most of the situations that people find themselves and the need for men to fulfill their roles as the ones responsible for the family's overall direction. It also encourages men to keep their faith in God and themselves, so we can make better decisions in meeting our family's needs.
