Hirohito, as supreme commander, gave full support to the army and navy. On multiple occasions, he sanctioned many government policies. In fact, he was responsible for the atrocities that the Japanese troops committed in Asia during the Pacific War. Japan's Empire Disaster is a book of information and training. The book describes Japan's opening to modernization with the 1853 arrival of commodore Matthew Calbraith Perry in the country and also details the history of the wars launched by Emperor Meiji and Emperor Hirohito to build Japan's empire in the nineteenth and the twentieth centuries.
