You will note that right from the beginning we state that this book is not about money--and yet, you will see the word money throughout the book. It is a book about financial discipleship.

Could there be a battle for our allegiance? As Christians, we desire to surrender our lives to the One who gave His so that we can love God completely and utterly.

The choice we face daily is whether we will follow our own desires or God's desires. Even when our heads are clear and our hearts seemingly willing, bringing our behaviours in line with the commands and teachings of Jesus can be a battle.

This spirit of mammon is pervasive and yet subtle, and it can be difficult to detect unless we remain vigilant against it. This spirit tries to persuade us to trust money more than we trust God.
