The Epistle to the Hebrews has always been of special interest to students of the Bible. Its individual approach, its Old Testament flavour, its interest in typology are features of particular interest. But most important of all is its emphasis on 'maturity', the need to persevere in patience and faith, and the ever-present danger of backsliding and lapsing into denial of the faith. We would be unwise to imagine that we are too 'mature' to fall into this danger. So, if we are honest, we shall see ourselves mirrored in this epistle, either as one who is going on to perfection or as one whose faith has grown cold.
