Informed by Marxist scholarship, this book aims to shed light on the complex relationship between capitalism, education, and digitalization.

The book is structured in two parts, related dialectically. The first part traces the new global educational order from the 1980s to the current highly digitalized moment. The second part draws on interviews with teachers and activists in Catalonia about the current educational orthodoxy, revealing the effect of neoliberal policies within schools, and what alternatives are offered by teacher resistance movements. The book closes with a chapter on the interplay between artificial intelligence, capitalism, and education.
