Maurice Harvey has had the rare opportunity to travel and take photographs throughout most of India. In this book, he recounts personal experiences of many visits to a country that is vast, complex and which has become the most populous on earth.

For ten years he was the distribution consultant to the Bible Society in India, then twenty years the official photojournalist of the United Bible Societies - the world's largest publisher.

These varied duties took him to all parts of India except Goa, Darjeeling, the Andaman Islands and a few states in the North East which were forbidden to foreigners.

The book contains both his personal stories and a variety of stunning (and award-winning) photographs in black and white and colour.
