Rescue accounts from New Zealand's only 24/7 dedicated long range search and rescue squadron, flying the P3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. 5 Squadron RNZAF covers a vast expanse of ocean, responsible for an area from Antarctica up to the Equator and covering many other Pacific nation Territorial Seas, including Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Niue, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Tuvalu, and Tokelau, and others. The book has accounts and photographs selected from fifty years of search and rescue operations, including several accounts compiled by the author himself, a former Air Warfare Specialist (formerly designated an Air Electronic Operator) with over 5000 logged P3 Orion flying hours.
