After author Rex John published his first book of "humorous essays," he wasn't prepared for the reaction he received. One person wrote, "I cannot read this book when I am out in public; there is lots of staring and head shaking because I just start laughing, tears stream down my face and I get silly." According to Rex, comments like that just "primed the pump," the end result of which is another collection of amusing anecdotes. "If It's Thursday..." tells how he once used his mother's vacuum cleaner to pick up leaves in the yard, a pointed exchange with a man in a kilt, and failed attempts at learning how to play the piano. His dental hygienest rates two chapters and his propensity to choke on food merits three stories, each funnier than the last.
