The Devi Mahatmya is one of the most important texts in Hinduism and forms part of the Markandeya Purana. It is also one of the oldest texts in the world dealing with a Goddess-based Spiritual Tradition. The Devi Mahatmya tells us the story of a disillusioned king, a merchant in despair, and a sage whose wisdom guides them to knowledge and salvation. The sage does this by revealing to them the three glorious victories achieved by the Goddess over the asura forces.
