Accessible and comprehensive, this book provides a much-needed, innovative perspective on international aid highlighting recent shifts towards centring localized voices and practices. Providing an overview of emerging and evolving forms of development, including technology for development, faith-based aid and South-South humanitarianism, the book explores to what extent they disrupt existing models and how they can lead to more equitable and grassroots-led approaches. The authors develop the concept of 'horizontal development' to examine how power and privilege operate in international and local development spaces.
