The author of this comprehensive history was the first Louisiana
historian to document his studies through research in the national
archives of France and Spain. Volume II (originally published in 1854)
finishes the story begun in the first volume of the French influence in
Louisiana. Topics include everything from struggles with the Native
Americans to the arrival of the Acadians.
The first page of each new lecture, as Gayarr' calls his
chapters, includes a list of the topics and events discussed in the
section. While reading, one can also enjoy maps of Louisiana as it was at
the time covered.The exciting account of French rule in Louisiana will
