Based on a true Australian event comes this inspiring picture book starring a pack of pups bred to protect a colony of penguins.

Middle Island, Australia was home to a vibrant, squawking, waddling colony of little penguins that neighbors from the nearby town took great pride in. But one season, the island is suspiciously silent and an investigation reveals that, between fox plunders and careless human visitors, the colony has dwindled to almost nothing. Creative minds jump to action and devise a plan. Maremma dogs, huge fluffy pups bred to protect livestock, would be sent to the island to protect the little penguins. But would it work?

Guardians of the Littlest Penguins is based on the true story of the Middle Island little penguins--and their stalwart protectors.
