He goes deep into such subjects as using color, implementing designs and ideas, choosing the best plants for each season, supporting wildlife, and creating borders and pot displays. His occasional reflections on nature add an extra dimension. The book, as well as being both practical and thought-provoking, is a visual feast: the beauty of the garden - its plants, animals and color - is celebrated through both TJ's images and those of professional garden photographers Clive Nichols and Jason Ingram, and wildlife photographer Kieran Neary.
