Aprašymas

A step-by-step journey through British history, from medieval monuments and Middle-age castles, to elegant Georgian houses and elaborate Victoriana.

From time-worn castles and cathedrals, to tucked-away country churches and elegant stately homes, Britain is full of genuinely incredible - but often surprisingly overlooked - historic buildings. Laden with character, style and deep layers of heritage, these structures each represent something unique - they are the bearers of national history, are examples of our curious mish mash of architectural styles and craftsmanship, and serve as monuments to civic pride, power and creativity. Each of their stones tells a remarkable story.

Great British Architecture will bring together the stories behind 80 great buildings from across the nation and, with illustrations throughout, will celebrate their beauty, charm and national significance. This book tells the story of how Britain's architecture is so closely entwined with its national history and identity.
