Graphene is an allotropic form of carbon which has a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice. Each carbon atom in a graphene sheet is connected to three other atoms by a sigma bond. It exhibits unusual electronic properties and is considered a semimetal.
