First published in 1958, this book was created with the aim of describing 'the main features of government in Great Britain, the Empire and the Commonwealth'. The text is divided into two main parts: part one focuses on British political institutions as they existed at the time of publication; part two takes a more historical approach, providing an account of the constitutional development of the British Empire from the seventeenth century onwards. Illustrative figures, an index of Acts of Parliament and a bibliography are also included. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in British politics, the British Empire and political history.
