He is the Messiah the prophets spoke about in the Old Testament. The religious leaders could not comprehend that the Messiah they were teaching about had finally come to them in a human form. They refused to believe He was a carpenter's son, born in a manager and He was their Messiah. This let us know that anyone could study and teach the Word, and they, themselves do not believe the Word when the manifestation comes. Jesus is the Light that pointed man back in the direction to God, whereas the law pointed to death. He is The Lamb of God because He was the ultimate and final sacrifice that was offered for the sons of people; not only for Israel, but for the whole world! And with that, this included you and me!
