Ira Combs, Jr. grew up in the poverty-stricken city of Westland, Michigan. Between racial injustice, a pervasive drug culture, and a complex relationship with an abusive father, Ira had plenty of excuses to become trapped and bitter.

He chose a different path.

The founder and pastor of Greater Bible Way Temple Church in Jackson, Michigan, Bishop Combs has spent his life changing the face of faith-based community service, mental health, state politics, and national policies.
