The author writes about the complexities of the language - and makes them simple! Anna Collins' approach is to simplify French by telling the reader how the main components - nouns, verbs, adjectives and prepositions - all work in their own right. Then we see them formed into sentences. She goes further, of course. Yet it is the everyday phrases and vocabulary that make this a true guide to conversation in the language. This encouraging book begins with the history and development of French throughout the world, and goes on to the means to access a great and widespread culture. Initial learners will gain first insight through Ms Collins' book, while students of French will find here a useful summary of main points about structure.
