Molefi Kete Asante is the most published African American scholar. He is a fellow of the African Academy of Sciences, a holder of several honorary degrees. Asante received his doctorate from UCLA and has taught at several universities in the United States and Africa.

On the front cover of this book is the late great African Egyptian sage, Hamdy Ercaibh of Elephantine Island, who taught Asa Hilliard, Yosef ben Jochannan, and Molefi Kete Asante about the black heritage of Egypt, the country of his birth. Sage Hamdy Ercaibh is remembered as one of the foundation stones in the Afrocentric building.
