Football in Hollywood (el. knyga) (skaityta knyga) | Duane Byrge | knygos.lt

Aprašymas

A lineup of iconic football films

America's most popular sport is also a popular topic in Hollywood. The desire to capture the roar of the crowd, the clash of bodies, and the rush of a win--or the agony of defeat--has encouraged filmmakers for generations.

From Harold Lloyd's silent football comedy, The Freshman, through Snoop Dogg's foul-mouthed but warm-hearted drama The Underdoggs, the portrayal of football on screen has grown and evolved alongside the sport. Classics like Remember the Titans and American Underdog tugged on moviegoers' heartstrings while others, like Semi-Tough went in a satirical direction. Stalwarts such as North Dallas Forty and Any Given Sunday tackled the often-brutal business aspects of the sport. More recently, movies like Concussion have even delved into the serious physical consequences of playing the game. Football has been the backdrop of many uniquely American stories that have resonated from coast to coast and there is nothing that can bring everyone together faster than rooting for an underdog like Rudy.

Author Duane Byrge delves into the vault to present the most definitive football movies of the last century.
