This book explores how social movements and alternative food networks are driving socio-ecological transformation in Brazil and Germany. Using multi-method research, it traces how grassroots coalitions shape the politics of food. These range from community supported agriculture initiatives to peasant movements and promote ideas such as food sovereignty and democracy, and good food for all.

The book analyses these real-world social movements through the intersections of class, gender, race and citizenship. Timely and interdisciplinary, it highlights collective action as a powerful force for building more equitable and sustainable food systems.
