I wish all who have read this book would keep deep in their memory all those concealed truths about life under Communism, which brought poverty, hunger, and pain to many Romanian homes. It is also true that some who agreed with and praised Communism have had it better, although the fear was very obvious on everyone's face in those days.

Let us remember what our elders say about our past, for they've all learned it from their elders. For this is how our history was taught: more by speaking it than by writing it."
