Earlier this spring, I decided to explain to my 5-year-old granddaughter, Mila, why plants and flowers are watered at the bottom of the plants and flowers instead of just spraying water on their leaves. I explained and showed pictures to Mila about Osmosis and Xylem, and how Xylem works with the process of Osmosis to transport water from the base of the plant or flower to the leaves and petals. Then came the really fun part...AN EXPERIMENT! After several hours, we saw the beautiful results of our experiment about OSMOSIS! Mila was so excited!
