Amid the social turmoil of the 1960's, the Vietnam War, and the Cold War, young men of the Baby Boomer generation faced a moral decision. Should they submit to the military draft to fight in a war they opposed, or should they resist, risking prison or expatriation for their beliefs, as well as the condemnation of their parents and country?

Steven Miller's story begins in the anti-war protests on a college campus and moves on to the world of resistance against the Vietnam War within the U.S. military, to the coffeehouses, underground newspapers, and disobedience of young men who believed that they were the true American patriots.

Along the way Steven finds romance with an alluring young woman from a different background. How do you follow your heart to pursue love when it conflicts with the conventional wisdom of your family and community?
